Visit Fort Worth, TX
for an Alan Jackson Concert
February 14-16, 2025

Alan Jackson has had country hits since 1990, including his biggest hit, IT'S FIVE O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE, in 1993! In recent years, he has developed Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease, a peripheral neuropathy, and because of his progressive health issues decided that it was time for his LAST CALL: ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD tour. Being one of her favorite artists, Sylvia was eager to see what may turn out to be his last concert tour. So we hit the road one more time for a Valentine's Day weekend in Fort Worth, Texas!

We stayed downtown at the Hilton Garden Inn (Medical Center) for the weekend! Here are a couple of pictures of us next to some "cowboy" wallpaper in the hotel room just before the concert!

After a brief check-in, we headed to Bob's Steak and Chop House where we had a reservation for a Valentine's dinner.

As it turned out, the restaurant was just across the street from one of Fort Worth's more famous attractions -- The Fort Worth Water Gardens. Truthfully, though, it was a cold, windy day and so after walking around the water gardens for a short while, we were ready to head back to the warmer indoor environment of the restaurant for a steak dinner!

The next day, one of the nicest days of the weekend weather-wise, we headed downtown to the Fort Worth Stockyard area to do a little sight-seeing and shopping. We had visited the Biscuit Bar in Dallas and the breakfast biscuit sandwiches were delicious, so we thought we would try the Fort Worth branch in Mule Alley downtown.

Unfortunately, the area was very crowded and full of tourists, we actually did very little sight-seeing or shopping that day! The breakfast biscuits, however, were delicious!

Later that day, we headed to the concert early to get a prime parking space and to settle in before the show started!

Dickies Arena is a beautiful facility in central Fort Worth. Here is my Cowgirl standing next to a giant Cowboy Boot just outside the arena!

The first picture is a decent selfie of us that evening, but a finger got in the way. So we took a second selfie in the third picture! The middle picture I took as Sylvia jumped up and started dancing to the music! This happens at every concert -- the girl loves to dance! You can see the Dickies logo on the ceiling!

The opening act was the James Carothers Band. Although we hadn't heard of this group before, they had a great sound and a great start to a night of country music!

The opening act was followed by another excellent entertainer called Zach Top. Zach Dirk Top is an American country/bluegrass singer-songwriter from Washington State. Again, neither Sylvia nor I had heard of this artist but once again, the music was outstanding!

Of course, the final artist to entertain us that evening was the great Alan Jackson.

He took us through a history trip of his hits and misses sprinkled with some personal tidbits and humor! Of course, his biggest hits like IT'S FIVE O'CLOCK SOMEWHERE, LITTLE BITTY and SUMMERTIME BLUES were highlights of the evening! Not being much of a country music fan myself, I have to admit that his set was very stirring and entertaining! Needless to say, Sylvia was in Country-Heaven!

It was about 3 hours of great music.
Painting It all went down as easy as the cotton candy that I bought for Sylvia that evening. It took us about 30 minutes to exit the parking lot (perhaps the only snag of the night), but with the venue only about 3 miles from our hotel, it was a short trip home! A great night overall!
