George and Sylvia
Go to Austin (Moody Center)
to see Thomas Rhett
Sept 2026

Las vegas hotel room Las vegas hotel room We took off for Austin a little after 1 p.m. and after stopping at Buc-ees in New Braunfels, we stopped at Cracker Barrel just before Kyle, TX for something to eat. You can see to the right that Sylvia already is dressed in her Cowgirl fringe for the concert!

The opening act was a contestant on season 9 of THE VOICE: Emily Ann Roberts! Obviously a beautiful girl, she had a great voice and a great stage presence. Of course, neither Sylvia nor I had heard of her, but her opening act was fantastic.

The middle act was also someone we had not heard about: Zach John King! Despite the fact that he had a great voice and an exceptional stage presence, neither Sylvia nor I really liked the songs that much. It sounded a great deal like country rap music.

Despite this, he did wake up the crowd and got everyone ready for the main star, Thomas Rhett.

And as expected, the place exploded when Thomas Rhett hit the stage! His set was well done with the exception that he didn't play a number of his biggest hits. Sylvia was waiting for him to sing SWEETHEART and 3-4 of the other country hits he had, but was disappointed that he didn't sing his more familiar material. There was no encore on a late Thursday night, but he did offer prayer to stay safe on the way home. His star power was undeniable.

Wax Museum Visit Well, what's a concert without some memorable merchandise! To the left is Sylvia holding up her memorabilia shirt of his concert tour. It was a two-hour ride back to San Antonio and sure enough, we crashed shortly after getting home about 1 a.m. Another fun (but brief) trip to see one of her favorite country stars!
