"Fluffy" Show at the Tobin Center
on Dad's birthday!
July 1, 2021

It was a fun day! As it turned out, we had tickets to go see Gabriel Iglesias, a.k.a. "Fluffy", at the Tobin center in downtown San Antonio on my actual birthday. That was nice of him to do the show for my birthday. (How did he know?) He is one of Jordan's favorite comedians and Cynthia and Sylvia joined us for the fun. To the left, is a German Chocolate Cake made for me by Sylvia... from scratch! We almost had a conflagration from just lighting the candles!!!
We started the night at a new restaurant, LANDRACE! It was a little upscale restaurant with great food and impeccable service. It was rather plain looking on the outside but had beautiful decor inside.

It was a hot, sunny day but fortunately we had to walk outside very little. So it was great for pictures before we quickly went inside for the cooler AC. In one of the pictures below, Sylvia and I are standing next to a bridge, and Sylvia tried to push me into the river below at one point. Who can blame her, right???

Below are pictures of our meals. Believe it or not, mine was the least expensive with the stuffed crab cakes priced at $40. They were delicious. Note the lemon drop martini next to the dish. Jordan's pork chop in the third picture was huge. Sylvia got the 16 oz. New York Strip (first picture) and Cynthia got the Filet Mignon (end picture).

Parents After the meal, I found out that Sylvia told the waiter that it was my birthday. So I was surprised with a small dessert that, honestly, we were too full to finish. It was called an Opera Cake but tasted quite a bit like tiramisu.
And finally, we were off to the Tobin Center for the concert. It was as good as we expected it to be. There were 3 comedians before the main attraction came on. All good. Then the place exploded for "FLUFFY"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They would not allow photos or video in the concert hall, but we were able to take pictures of the signs on the street and in the lobby.

All-in-all, it was a terrific birthday. We all had great food, lots of laughs and wonderful entertainment! In fact, the only bad aspect of the night was that I had to turn 69. My last birthday in my 60's. And my 60's were no picnic. I can't imagine how bad my 70's will be.

(Actually, I can imagine them .... scary!)

The concert was followed by the fourth of July weekend when all of my girls and grandchildren came together to help celebrate my birthday! It was the best birthday present that I could hope for.

Below, Sophia is helping Dad blow out the candles. It was so cute. She was moving her head back and forth like she was blowing out the candles but generated very little air flow. I had to step in and help. Note that I am wearing white arm sleeves. It was a gift from Sylvia. The picture to the right shows Erica and Stella enjoying some birthday cake. We had great food, plenty of wine and many competitive dart games. It was a memorable birthday for dear ol' Dad.
