New York City trip
October 2021
As soon as I heard that New York was opening Broadway again, and that WICKED, my favorite play of all time, was one of the first shows to open, I made plans to take Sylvia to New York to see the play and the sights.
The news came around the time of her birthday, and it was a good time to buy the tickets as a birthday present. It was our first trip together. To the left is a shot of Times Square, which was only one block from our hotel. To the right, Sylvia takes a picure with Ramon (a fabulous magician) who put on a great show in Times Square.
Also, just around the corner from our hotel as it turned out, was the HARD ROCK CAFE. I was surprised to hear that Sylvia had never been to ANY Hard Rock Cafe, not even in San Antonio, and so she had to be initiated. We had a blast drinking a Hurricane and looking at all of the memorabilia.
The two big events of our trip, however, were the WICKED Broadway show and the Statue of Liberty. The Gershwin theater was about 1/2 mile from our hotel, but since we had been walking all day, we decided to take the subway. It was trickier than I thought and after going in the wrong direction initially, we switched trains and got "back on track" (sorry, bad Dad joke) and made it in plenty of time.
Two additional highlights of our weekend (and there were many), included a carriage ride through Central Park (left) and a ride on the Seaglass Carousel (right).
Below, is an image carousel with a number of other New York pictures. Because we took so many, I broke up the pictures into two carousels. This is the first one.
