Michelle and Sophia drove down to San Antonio to celebrate Michelle's 33rd birthday. And, in fact, I had the presents (to the right) on the pool table for about 2 weeks prior to Michelle and Sophia driving down to our fair city.
We were actually celebrating a little bit late. As it turned out, Kevin tested positive for COVID-19 on the weekend of her actual birthday and so we had to postpone the festivities for a couple of weeks until everyone at Cynthia's house had quarantined for 10 days.
But once things were rearranged, the party continued as if nothing had happened.
We started the evening at La Fogata in Alamo Heights. The bar and grill was fairly new, upscale and chic. Cynthia was able to arrange for a 12 person reservation for the evening.
We had a great waiter who was new, but with 4 well trained servers at the table, we were able to pull him through the experience without a hitch. There were plenty of drinks to start off the evening.
Below is Cynthia's usual cucumber martini.
Sylvia, Andrew, James and his son, Jay, joined us for dinner that evening. Below is a picture of Erica and Cynthia admiring my plate of mole enchiladas.
After a couple of hours of drinks, food and laughs, we headed home for cake and presents. Of course, the song "Michelle" by the Beatles was played about a million times. We were able to get in only one game of darts before we sang the
"Happy Birthday" song to Michelle and began handing out presents.
The birthday cake was an Orange Mimosa cake from Nadler's Bakery! It was delicious! There were also a number of pastries including eclairs, almond/coconut horseshoes and chocolate chip cookies that quickly and magically disappeared.
Everyone seemed to share in the gift opening ceremony!!! In the last picture (above), Erica said that anyone in the picture could share the presents with Michelle, so there was a wild frenzy stampede for the picture frame with all of the money in it. It is clear that the money picture gift is getting old and not much of a surprise anymore, so maybe it's time to retire that present and come up with a better idea...
...... naaahhh! It's still a good present!!!
Besides, Jordan hasn't received one yet and will probably need one for her 21st birthday!
