Although Michelle's birthday is on the 16th, we actually celebrated it the weekend before to accomodate everyone's schedule. Clint and Michelle drove into town from Austin about 6 p.m. on Saturday and headed to Luther's Cafe where we attended the drag show for the second week in a row. The group, pictured here, consisted of Erica, Michelle, Clint, Diane and Jordan
(in the back) and Cory, Jennifer, Jessica and Michael
(in front). Not pictured was George
(me) and a couple of friends of Michael and David who were also there to join in the fun.
During the night, we had a chance to sing,
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY" to Michelle with a cake that David and Diane brought to the restaurant. Yes, we were very loud and had the whole restaurant joining in with us. (No, they didn't get a piece of cake!) And then there was the drag show...
For some reason they picked on Clint all night and totally ignored me. Now I have two major groups of people ignoring me: females and female impersonators.
The next morning was more subdued as we slept late and dragged ourselves out of bed about mid-morning. We finally decided that we were hungry and had some nice breakfast tacos, complements of Clint, Michelle and Mama Margie! After a lazy Sunday of coffee and football, we got together once again to shower Michelle with presents!
Jordan, as usual, handed out the presents. Although I tried to tell her which one to give next, she kept informing me that she had her own sequence. Michelle had a great time opening one present after the next but when she got to her favorite
'last-but-not-least' present, it was time to head to BJ's for a last minute of dinner, drinks and of course, toast to Mom, who is always with us on these occasions!
As, the night ended, Cynthia and Jordan left for home, Clint and Michelle packed up and headed for Austin, and me and Erica headed back into the house to eat any left over desserts. Michelle lamented that this was her last birthday in her 20's!
But her Dad knows that the best years are yet to come.
