Well, time keeps rolling along. It seemed like just yesterday I turned 65 years old and was signing up for Medicare. Now, another year has passed.
After too much fun at the restaurant, we headed home to enjoy the dessert and open presents. It took a while to catch a good picture of the group since my daughters were hamming it up for the camera, but the last picture of me, Cynthia and Michelle turned out great!
As I cut into the cake, this mini-M&M center oozed out like a secret surprise. The cake itself was multi-colored and looked like a tie-dye design. It was delicious. Not pictured here was a second cake made by Cynthia. That cake was a Tres Leche German Chocolate cake -- all some of my favorite flavors in a cake. For a brief time, I was that proverbial "kid-in-a-candy-store".
My kids tell me that I am difficult to buy gifts for but they still managed to buy me a bunch of great presents including: Music CDs, a Darth Vadar Cap
(pictured) , books, Beatles magnets, Jelly Beans, All-Sorts Licorice, an egg cooker, and a 4-in-1 kitchen gadget that made Belgian Waffles, omelettes, and paninis. (I have since used this grill to make a number of things -- all cooked in about 5 minutes!!!)
The real gift, though, was having all of my girls together to share the experience with me.
