We ended up celebrating Cynthia's birthday on September 21st, a Friday, to accommodate everyone's schedule. Michelle, Clint and Penelope (her dog) all came down on Thursday, the day before the celebration. I made the mistake of giving Penelope a piece of ham and then the damn animal followed me around for the rest of the weekend. You'd think I'd learn from past mistakes!
The picture on the right was taken after we returned home from dinner. They tried to crowd me out of the picture, but I snuck in anyway! We didn't have a chance to get together before the dinner. Cynthia & Jordan & Kevin met me, Erica, Michelle & Clint at Taco Garage for drinks. Michael, David, Jennifer, Julian and Diane were all there as well to celebrate.
We took the celebration to
The Taco Garage (see link) on Broadway in San Antonio. We had been there before and even before Cynthia arrived, we ordered a board of 6 different margaritas. Erica and I shared two of these during the evening.
After a couple of hours, we had our fill of margaritas & Mexican food (I had the mole enchiladas!), we headed back home for cake and presents.
Jordan handed out the presents again but this time with a twist. Jordan and I got together and before we got to Cynthia's presents, we wrapped a variety of gifts for others in the room including: two gifts for Jordan, one each for Erica & Michelle, two for Kevin, one for Clint and even one gift for Lily (Jordan's dog). With each present called out, we got a
"What the...." response from Cynthia. When we finally got to Cynthia's presents, the first one was a gag gift of paint brushes from the dollar store. See, she wanted make-up brushes... and we got her paint brushes... (see what we did there). I guess you had to be there for the gag.
But then we had a bunch of real gifts for Cynthia. When I asked later if she got everything that she wanted, she said, "I always do."
awww
One of her gifts was an upcoming concert to see Taylor Swift in Dallas on October 6th. Hotel included. I am sure that there will be pictures to follow.
